New Health Care Reform

Assignment #1
There are about 45 million people in the United States who don't have Health Insurance. This means that if they end up in a sticky situation they have to pay for it with their own money. A Health Care Law that was signed in 2010 made it so all Americans would have access to affordable Health Insurance. Beginning of the year 2014 Americans will have to buy some type of Health Insurance or pay a fine. This new law is called the Individual Mandate. Does Congress have this authority to pass this law? Many Americans are asking this question and arguing that they can't make them buy something. The Constitution does include a Commerce Clause. This states that congress has the right to Regulate Commerce. Americans are bringing up the idea that though they can do this, they are not allowed to make Commerce. They can't force people to buy things they don't want. President Obama stated that they are not creating commerce but instead helping regulate the medical industry. Congress is now debating the topic.
