My Time Hear at St. Mary's

My time hear at St. Mary's has been an upward climb. The beginning was thrilling and I had the strength to wander and explore, but as I got farther the path got harder and I found myself falling over and over again. This last year I found I am stronger and able to finish the climb I started back in pre-school. My faith in Christ is strong and I know I am ready to set off on my own and start another climb somewhere else.

Here at St. Mary's we are all bananas. Yup, bananas. We come green and fresh and as the years go by we turn yellow as we learn not only about math, our world, and science stuff, but also our faith and God. By the end we are yellow and ripe and ready to be shared with the world. Yet, we aren't perfect. Along the way we'd trip and fall and veer off the path God has set for us. We have brown marks to prove that we aren't perfect yet God still loves us for the way we are, and we are ready to go into a new world...High School.

Moving On

Another year has come and gone, but this year was like no other. This was my last year at SMS. When you have a class of 38 students that you have been with since pre-school it is hard to move on. I know each person in a way that is indescribable and hard to understand unless you have witnessed or felt it in your own personal experience. All the 8th graders in this years graduating class are like my brothers and sisters. The past years of my life have been...interesting and again are indescribable. Through thick and thin I do believe I have seen it all; although, I love you all for the way you are.

I will miss you all in different ways<3

Sports

Friday night was Knight Games. This year was one crazy year! We ended up doing an amazing race around town and I believe we ran maybe 7-8 miles! Then, on Saturday my lacrosse team had Playday. It's  like state play-offs but for lacrosse. Anyways, we ended up playing 6 games and got into top four. Unfortunately, it got rained out and we will have to reschedule to play for championship. On Sunday we had our 1st soccer game and we lost:(

Borrowing and Saving Money

Today in 21st Century Skills we watched some short clips on how borrowing money can get you into trouble if you don't have a plan to pay it off. People can borrow money for a house, a car, and college. If you need to get a loan on something make sure you make a plan that your are able to pay off without going into to debt. Balance your income and the money you are spending. Also make sure that the interest rate stays the same throughout the months or years you are paying of your debt so you don't end up paying more that you would have thought.

Soccer

Soccer season has finally started and I am super happy to be playing on U-16!!! It's super hard keeping up with girls two years older than you, but I am trying my best. Everyone else had already had a game or two except our team.:( Fortunately, our first game is soon! I am very nervous for our upcoming game, because I know I will easily be pushed around.

Dream Job Assignment

When I am finally done with school I would like to become an anesthesiologist or work in the E.R.. I have always wanted to be some type of doctor but can never decide on one specific type.

Work isn't always enjoyable, but if you find something that you really enjoy doing I think you can be pretty satisfied with what you do.

Depending on the job you don't necessarily have to be paid. You could do volunteer work and still be super happy with your life.

When you work at school you aren't getting paid, your working for your own benefit, and by law you have to go. When you work at you job you usually get paid, you're usually working for the benefit of others, and you could quit your job and do something else if you'd like.

ELC (Environmental Learning Center)

For the past 9 years of my life I have been looking forward to this special trip that 8th graders get to go to, since 6th grade I have been working super hard to get 30 hours of volunteer work so I could go, and since the beginning of the year I have been counting down the days till I finally get to go. Now all my hard work is over, the waiting is over, and that special trip is over too. :( This trip was to ELC a.k.a. Wolf Ridge in Finland, Minnesota. What is Wolf Ridge? We (36 kids of our 8th grade class) woke up at 5:00 a.m., drove on a bus for 5 hours, and spent 5 days at as camp where we saw the best and worst of everyone. Wolf Ridge    is a place where you can get outdoors and learn the same stuff you do at school but in a cooler hands on kind of way. Some things we did were ropes course, s'mammals, river studies, beavers, rock climbing, lake superior hike, and competitive orienteering.
Ropes Course: A course made of ropes 30 feet off the ground.
S'mammals: a.k.a. small mammals is where we learned about mice, moles, voles, and chipmunks.
River Studies: Then study of a large stream. We took samples of the water and checked the HP level and oxygen level. We also got water bugs to see what other types of animals could possibly live their.
Beavers: We checked out a dam in search of beavers and hints that they had been there like chewed wood, paths leading out of the water, and dens.
Rock Climbing: We learned how to belay and helped each other scale the rock wall.
Lake Superior Hike: We hiked 3 miles up a mountain for a picture perfect view of Superior.
Competitive Orienteering: The leaders give you a map, a compass, the skills to find all the points, and set you of in a mile radius area to find points on the map, punch holes in your card, and get back the fastest. a.k.a. Not Getting Lost, The Fastest.
